Mothers Day with Mele

Here is what Mele did on Mothers Day!

Mothers Day Recount by Irene

On Sunday I helped my mum with the food because we were making heaps of food for the people that were coming. We got the vegetables out and other stuff like meat. I was so excited for the people to come because I haven’t played with their kids in a very long time since the lock down started. 

The food that we had was BBQ, oka, taro, banana {not the yellow, the green ones we cooked} fish, chicken hearts - I think we had more but I can’t remember it. Oka is a food that you put coconut cream in and cucumber and tomato you also fish in which is why I love eating oka. 

The people coming to my house were the people that come to my church. What I mean by my church, I mean my dad's church because he’s the pastor {leader} so they were coming to my house. 

My mum was so happy because we had so much fun. I also had fun throughout the day because I could play with the kids and watch the mums dance. We had a happy mothers day.

Melepalu during Lockdown

At home I haven't been up to anything but doing my homework. During the couple days the weather has been pretty bad so we can't go outside and it hasn't become colder. Since we can't go outside, I have had lots of fun talking to my friends over the internet and playing inside games with my family.

Lock down is not that bad. We have had some nice and relaxing times which is pretty cool. So until level 2 comes, I will be inside. I can't wait to go outside and go to school. I miss school but I like staying home and doing my work here.

ANZAC Recount by Melepalu

On ANZAC Day which was on 25th of April, my family and I played some games outside like hand ball and capture the ball/flag. That was pretty much it, but we had so much fun that we played all day. I was injured after playing a few games but I took care of it and kept on playing.

For handball we play mostly everyday but Saturday was all about capturing the flag. We played with our own rules that we had to follow. Having our own rules kind of makes it a little fun. 

We separated the back yard into two parts and made one square in each side for the other team to run in and get our ball and it was the first one to return the ball to their territory wins a point but to get a point you would have to catch the ball in the other teams territory and run in you part of the backyard without getting tagged from the other team.
