Our BEAUTIFUL pepeha display

At the start of term 1, students in Room 9 wrote their individual pepeha.

They then they wrote their pepeha on a template carefully using vivid. After, they dyed each section a different colour.

Finally, they attached their photo at the bottom.

Students also designed 2 feathers each which were attached to create our class korowai art in the centre.

Ka pai Room 9!

PB4L Poster - FAIR PLAY

Room 9s Class Matrix

Room 9 unpacked the school wide matrix and created our own classroom matrix.

We simplified it carefully so it's easier to understand in our class.

We need to always remember to respect self, others, learning, property and our environment.

LISTEN carefully

Today in Kiwican, students had to listen reaaaallllly carefully to instructions to make sure they knew if their hands were going up or down!

It was a tricky game, but lots of fun!

Abstract Tree Display

WOW! I am amazed how talented room 9 students are.

Well done for completing such beautiful art work.

It has brightened up the main office!

Problem-solving

Room 9 is learning how to solve multiplication problems. Here is how one group solved the question below. How else could YOU solve it?

Maths question:
Kanesha has 6 bags of kumera. There are 8 kumera in each bag. How many kumera are there altogether?

Fair Play

This week we have been learning about fair play.

As a class, we unpacked what fair play meant.

Then the students created a poster on google draw about what they think fair play is.

Collaborative Problem Solving

Students in Room 9 love solving maths problems collaboratively during problem solving.

We unpack the problem as a whole group and then the students are split into smaller groups of 3-4 to solve the problem together.

At the end, one group will come up to the front, explain how they solved the problem and write it neatly on the board.

EXCITING writing prompts!

WOW!!! Room 9 students couldn't keep their eyes of this exciting short animated film we watched for writing today.

At the moment, we are learning how to retell a story in our own words. This short film had every single student fully engaged!

I can't wait to see all their wonderful writing pieces and their creative art they will do about this short film.

The short animated film is called The Catch!
You can find it on the Literacy Shed.

Marvellous Music!!!

We are very lucky to have a wonderful music teacher at Glenbrae School. Room 9 loves going to their music lessons to learn a variety of different skills.

One of the students favourite activities is instrument bingo. They have to listen very carefully to the instrument being played over the speaker and then try guess which instrument it is using their bingo sheet.

Thank you to Mrs Naidu, who is doing a wonderful job teaching our beautiful tamariki!

Learning to float on our backs!

Room 9 students have been learning to float on their backs for long periods of time. Floating on your back in a very important skill to learn so:

 a) you can breathe
 b) you can float
c) so you can swim

Well done Room 9 for learning how to float so well! Keep up the hard work.
