This movie is all about teachers and why students appreciate us. They had to think about why they think teachers are important.
We are Year 4 and 5 learners at Glenbrae School in Auckland, New Zealand and our teacher is Miss Smith.

Our AMAZING art
In Room 9, we have been learning about warm and cool colours. First students had to measure out a 2cm or 3cm grid on a blank piece of A4 paper using rulers. Once they had their grid, a protractor was carefully used to form a circle. Then they drew a 'Y shape' in the circle and then a trunk below it. They added branches to their Y and coloured it in black. They coloured the grid within the circle warm colours (red, yellow, orange). Outside of the circle, students used cool colours (green and blue). The green was used to create 'grass' and blue to create the 'sky' This was done in a checkered pattern using light and dark shades.

Science INTENSIVE!
Room 9 had lots of fun during Science Intensive! They begun by learning about stage makeup and the science behind makeup by watching some exciting and interesting videos. They then got to create their own 'makeup' on a blank face to change the 'look' of the person. This involved researching what they wanted to draw, sketching their design on the face and then heading down to the art room to paint in the details!

I like to do sports and the best and awesome teacher I've had is Miss Smith. My favourite rugby team is the Warriors and the Hurricanes. When I get older I would like to work at McDonalds so I can make frozen coke for myself, my family and maybe my teacher , Miss Smith. Thanks for reading and hope you learnt something about me.

School Matrix
During the first 2 weeks of term 1, Room 9 discussed the School Matrix and the importance of it. The School Matrix is all about respect: respecting self, others, learning, environment and property. They brainstormed in small groups about what 'respect' looks like in all of these different areas. It was great to see all the students working as a team to think of examples of showing respect.
