Room 9 students have been reading the book "Lest We Forget" by Kerry Brown.
Students are learning to respond to questions about a text.
Well done to Irene for answering all the questions about the text and using full sentences! Here is what she said:
1. Grandad said there are two types of days - write down what they are.
Those who you want to remember and those you want to forget.
2. What did Mum do on the boys first day of school?
Polished his shoes until he could see his face on them.
3. What did the boys coach say about their soccer team?
That they were like a family and is important to look after each other on the field.
4. How do YOU think the soldiers looked after each other when they were at war?
By helping if they were injured and got each other’s back like if someone is out of bullets, his/her friend will come and help out.
5. What did Mum burn in the kitchen to make the whole house smell like smoke?
It was the roast.
6. Who made the ANZAC biscuits for the soldiers?
Their families made the biscuits.
7. How did the families find out if their sons, brothers or dads had been killed at war?
They found out through a telegram.
